  📍 Hey everybody, this is Valerie Saunders with another edition of Val's Vibe. I know when I'm on here, I usually talk about mortgages. However, today I wanted to talk about something else. Pickles... so I know that's an unusual topic. However, uh, over the last year I've been on a health journey. I have lost about 65 pounds.

Um, I do take Monjauro for full disclosure. However, Monjauro is not a miracle drug where the pounds just. fall off of you in five seconds, you do have to work at it. Um, I have, uh, I do intermittent fasting. So I do only eat for a very small period of time in a day, usually somewhere between 6pm and 8pm.

That's the time that I eat a meal. Um, I do, uh, I am a vegetarian. I've been a vegetarian for about 15 years. Um, so I don't eat meat. I don't eat fast food. It's really hard as a vegetarian, um, for me personally, at least to, uh, eat fast food because there's just not a lot, um, to choose from. Um, how many times can you eat French fries?

How many times can you eat a fast food salad? Um, so I really just. don't really eat fast food at all. Um, I also, uh, really try to watch, um, my, um, intake of just food in general. I, uh, kind of follow the mantra, um, Eat to live, not live to eat. So, um, you know, one of the things that Monjauro has done is, you know, I don't really crave anything.

I've never been a snacker. So, um, I, you know. Don't really sit here thinking about what am I going to eat for dinner? Um, I am kind of, if you can't tell, I'm kind of a disciplined person. So I have a tendency to kind of eat the same stuff all the time. Um, but one of the things I do do every single morning is I do pickle juice.

And I did wear my Pickle Lover sweatshirt today, um, for this topic, but, uh, so, um, you're probably wondering pickle juice, why? And, um, so this is a unpaid commercial, uh, but I do, um, Have, uh, pickled juice that is delivered, uh, to my home on a subscription from a company called Olive My Pickle. It is O-L-I-V-E, my Pickle.

Um, they do have a website, https://www.olivemypickle.com/. You can purchase pickle juice directly from them. Um, it ha they have a variety of flavors, so it's not just straight up pickle juice. Um, you can, um, have other items mixed into it, but I know a lot of people think about pickle juice as. Um, like, uh, an electrolyte replacement, uh, of course, a lot of, um, athletes use it.

It's great instead of Gatorade. My daughter used to do travel softball. One of the big things that we would sell at the concession stand was frozen pickle juice. The kids loved it. 25 cents for a quarter. And it was something that we normally would just throw away. But, um, there are some, uh, probiotic benefits of pickle juice, specifically fermented pickle brine, which is what you can get from all of my pickle.

Um, it tastes a lot different than if you're buying like Vlassic. Um, not that there's anything wrong with Vlassic pickles. I love Vlassic pickles, but the pickle juice has like a vinegar base, um, where when you get it, From a company like all of my pickle. Um, it is a fermented pickle brine. So it does have a lot of probiotics.

It has a lot of beneficial bacteria in it, which is really great for your gut health and digestion. Believe it or not. Also, pickle juice is a great. way to regulate your blood sugar. Um, if you do use the pickle brine that has vinegar, vinegar does help regulate people's blood sugar levels. So it is really a great benefit for people that have diabetes.

Um, brine pickle juice also has a lot of anti antioxidants. Um, it's got vitamin C, which is As we know, a great way to protect cells from damage. Um, it also is really great for digestion, um, vinegar and probiotics. They help stimulate those digestive enzymes and improve your digestion. So, um, my PSA for, uh, this week's podcast is.

Drink more pickle juice. As I said, https://www.olivemypickle.com/ is a great website to go to. Um, I do two shots of pickle juice every single morning. Uh, when I am traveling, uh, I actually, um, buy little bottles of pickle juice that I get from the grocery store. And I'm able to do that in the morning, um, when I'm not able to have my regular refrigerated, um, live brine pickle juice.

So, um, I will be sharing more of what I have, um, done or what I do on this health journey. Hopefully it helps somebody. It's definitely helps me, um, as, uh, we, um, uh, age we take it, take for granted all of those things that we used to be able to do when we were in high school or college, um, that just change over time as your body ages.

Um, I personally have a plan to live to about 150, I'm sure by the time that I get there. Um. modern medicine will have caught up. So I'm going to look exactly the way that I do right now. Um, a long time from now. So, um, look for more of, uh, just the health tips that I have to give. And these are just things that have worked for me personally, that hopefully might be able to help someone else.
